At 11:00 hrs today representatives from the Town of Andover and IAFF Local 1658 Andover Firefighters Association signed a 3-year contract that covers the period of time from July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2007.

The contract was signed in a ceremonious fashion at Town Hall where the deal was inked officially by Andover Town Manager Reginald Stapczynski and Fire Chief Michael Mansfield as well as Local 1658 President James Landry Sr., Vice Presidents Clifford Pattullo, John Gangi, and Scott Gibson.

The new pact includes wage increases of 9.1% over the three years covered by the contract, increases in the amount firefighters pay in health insurance co-pays, and continues longevity stipends for the firefighters.

The Town and the union have been working diligently over the last 40 months to come to terms that were acceptable to both sides and sought assistance from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Joint Labor Management Committee to develop the terms of the final agreement.

The Town of Andover and the Andover Firefighters Local 1658 are pleased that the contract was finally ratified and both parties can now move forward and begin preparing for the next round of negotiations that will begin in earnest in early 2008.
