Office of the Chief of Police
Chief Brian J. Pattullo began his career as a Patrolman with the Andover Police Department in July 1981. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1991 and then appointed to the position of Chief in March 1998.
He
received his early education from
Chief
Pattullo is an active member of many law enforcement organizations and
related groups. He currently
serves as Regional Chairperson for the Northeast Homeland Security Regional
Advisory Council, and is a member of the Northeast Massachusetts Law
Enforcement Council and Essex County Chiefs of Police.
He was instrumental in the establishment of the Massachusetts Police
Accreditation Commission, Inc. and serves as President of the Commission.

Lt. Hashem was appointed to the position
of Commander in January of 2001. He has been a member of the department
since 1986. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1991 and to Lieutenant
in 1999. |

The Andover Police Department is made up of the following:
52 Sworn Officers consisting of:
1 Chief, 1 Commander, 5 Lieutenants, 8 Sgts, and 39 Patrol Officers.
19 Civilian members providing the following support:
1 Network Administrator, 1 Animal Control Officer, 1.5 Parking Supervisors, 1 Dispatch Supervisor, 12 Dispatchers, and 5 Clerical Staff

The Andover Police Department is Accredited by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commision.
Police Accreditation is a process by which a police department formally evaluates its activities and seeks an independent judgment that it substantially achieves its own objectives and is generally equal in quality to comparable agencies.
